This is a recent website (2000) that contains over 700 sites with guide Joe Cece. It contains 30 links, with subjects including Church History, Current Issues, Liturgy: General, Music, Morality, and Social Justice. These topics would be helpful in supplementing a high school religion programme. From the link on Religious Education, all sorts of resources were listed under the Catholic Education Network, which would be a quick way to access resources on a particular topic or current unit of study.-Susan Arena

This site includes reviews of literature, audio, and video products. It also includes some daily features such as Saint of the day, Minute Meditations, Catholic News, etc. A very interactive site. It's a great place to look for insights on various materials you may be thinking of incorporating in the classroom. Bread on the Waters: Web Pages to Feed the Web Surfer’s Spirit
This site is a wonderful resource which presents web pages on a variety of topics, especially prayer. The section entitled “Lord, Teach us to Pray” takes the surfer through the Our Father, Hail Mary, and other prayers line by line and explains what is meant by each of the statements. The online articles and links to magazines are insightful to youth and adults seeking a deeper understanding of the mysteries. Present also are articles that relate information on members of the Church and foreign communities and their efforts to build a living church. This site could easily be used in the classroom in terms of helping young people understanding prayer and what it means when we pray the Our Father and Hail Mary. It is also excellent for helping students understand how other parts of the world are building their Catholic faith. One could easily get lost amidst the pages of information. However it is a journey worth taking for the web surfer’s spirit.

This site gives a brief description of the book and how it can be used. Links to noted quotations and direct access to Bible references are included. It is a very user friendly website. Students can use it to access information on various issues (i.e. Mary, homosexuality, etc.)

Catholic Culture
This site provides commentary on a number of current topics. Perhaps most useful for the educator though is the link to the Library and the Liturgical Calendar. The Library allows the visitor to search by topic, author or date for articles dealing with many topics such as vocation, biblical criticism and more.  This site provides a view on modern day issues and events in a Catholic perspective.  You can search through their collection of articles that discuss issues related to Catholic Education and/or Current Issues.  Some topics that can be found under the Catholic Education link are articles pertaining to Church history, ethics, arts and literature, etc.  Some topics that can be found under the Current Issues link include euthanasia, abortion, marriage and family, media, etc.  This site is useful to teachers because information about the Catholic churches position on many issues and events that may be brought up in the classroom is readily available for us to use.--Tina Martelli

The Catholic Goldmine
This site really is a goldmine for issues and dogmas about Catholicism. It is an easily navigable site and its table of contents is highly inclusive and easy to access. It is mainly a search engine for quick links to other web sites, but its format makes the searching for whatever topic you are looking for easy. It also features a site of the month as well as a question and answer section. This site is invaluable to any teacher that is looking for anything Catholic. -- Debbie Mayos

This site contains all types of information about issues regarding today's Catholic. It contains Vatican News as well as reflections about Christian Celebrations such as Easter and Lent. The main use for this site as teachers and visitors is to search for library resources which often are accompanied by summaries and the occasional review. The Catholic Mother's Internet Connection
This is the only website on the net designed for Roman Catholic mothers. It is a resource center for mothers who face the challenge of raising young children. The site gives examples of ways that traditional Roman Catholic spirituality can be incorporated throughout the day. As well as ideas and practices that can be used to teach the traditions of the Roman Catholic faith to children. It also provides great links and an email discussion forum. This site would be useful to elementary school teachers to recommend to parents, mothers and grandmothers. Some of the ideas can also be incorporated into an elementary classroom. -- J. Dixon

This is an international news site highlighting recent religious events from around the world. It is categorized into sections not unlike your typical secular newspaper. However the categories are presented from a Christian based reporting style. This is an excellent news source for the discerning Catholic.
Catholic Online: Catholic Prayers & Beliefs
Catholic Online is an extensive resource and the section entitled “Catholic Prayers and Belief” is a collection that gives an overview of the many facets of Catholic beliefs. The Prayers section offers prayers by categories such as Advent, Faith, and Motherhood. The Beliefs section outlines the Church’s beliefs on a wide variety of topics including A Guide for Confession, the Stations of the Cross, and the Seven Sacraments. The choices on the main page include Catholic News, Saints & Angels, WebCast, Catholic forum, Free Webmail, Shopping, Services We Offer, What's New, Catholic Online Search, CCN (Catholic Communication Network). The Catholic Online Search is a worldwide search engine and proved very useful. the links are restricted to appropriate sites from all over the world. An important aspect of this site is the opportunity for cyberspace visitors to participate in discussions and commentaries through the "Catholic Forum" and the CCN. This could provide students and educators avenues for interaction and discussion of topics with other individuals from around the world. This web site has won the Christianity Online Award for the "Best Christian Web Site of the Year". This site has the following links: Web site promotion specials, Christian fun, games, chat groups, Christian clip art, praise and worship tapes, etc. Their best link by far is their Bible search. This function searches by keywords and will find any quote from the Bible. It will search even by specific type of version and by Gospels. This is a great link. --Pino Basso
Holy Spirit Parish: the source of Christian Information
This website contains a home page with featured sites and a list of links. Of particular interest are the links for church history, denominations and theology. The contents describe different religions that students would be familiar with in their daily lives. It offers a good study in the comparison of religions. The site could prove useful to teachers and students in a world religion course. In some areas the information may be too much for junior students. However, a high school class should be able to work through the contents. Under the fun and entertainment link, teachers could find activities to assist in 'breaking the ice' in a religion class. Note: there is a degree of commercialism and  hawkishness at this site but there is also some useful information. -- Fran Fraser

Religious Education on the Web 
Although this website is based in the UK, there are some helpful curriculum resources for teachers and sites that students can visit also. This site has a special link for department heads with ideas for courseware, exams, organization and events. The teacher resources include lesson plans, worksheets, exams, essays and media resources. Links to world religions, ethical/moral issues are helpful. The pages are vibrant with user-friendly icons. There is an interactive link which allows students or teachers to ask questions on religious ed. issues and receive answers, world contacts on issues as inter-faith discussions. The link to ethics and moral issues is particularly helpful for discussing topics such as abortion, animal rights, the environment, human rights, medical ethics and genetics, to name a few. -- Cathie Furfaro
